Lazzarini gets to grips with Sankt Wendel Grand Prix GERMANY of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship

SANKT WENDEL (GERMANY), 10 July 2010 – Wendelinuspark street circuit played host to day one of the second Grand Prix of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship, where the riders starred in a really tough time practice with only one-second difference among the first eleven riders. Finally Ivan Lazzarini succeeded in being the fastest in Germany and will have to fight with Mauno Hermunen and the Chareyre brothers Thomas and Adrien in tomorrow’s Superpole.

Lukas Höllbacher was the fasted in the UEM S3 series and won the first race. In the Open class time practice session Teo Monticelli managed to be the fastest but it was Petr Vorlicek who went out with the victory of race one.

S1

HM Honda Racing’s Lazzarini was Saturday’s fastest rider in a really hot and tight time practice in Sankt Wendel, having just a tenth of a second difference with the second classified Hermunen. The Italian had to wait until the last rider went through the finish line to assure his result as the fight among the first five riders was really tough. In fact, Lazzarini stormed to the top of the time sheets only towards the end of the session.

Husqvarna CH Racing’s Hermunen was a close second while team mate Adrien Chareyre got the third best time just in his very last lap, ahead his brother Thomas Chareyre. The 747 Motorsport TM Racing Factory rider from France was only eleven hundreds of a second slower than Adrien Chareyre.

PMR H2O Aprilia Racing’s VDB was fifth in the German track and he will have to do well in tomorrow’s races if he wants to keep on holding the red plate on his Aprilia machine.

Other 747 Motorsport TM Racing Factory rider Gozzini, who was second overall in the first GP of the season in Castelletto, could only be sixth fastest in today’s time practice followed by the German Bernd Hiemer, the latter struggling on his home track.

Belgium fellow riders Seel and Delepine took 12th and 13th respectively while Bussei crashed early in the session and could not improve on his laptime – he was an eventual 22nd.

Mariani was 19th in the time practice in what is being his first race on an Aprilia machine, the Italian having ridden TM’s for most of his career.

In tomorrow’s Superpole riders will have to do their best in order to find out who gets the pole position in what it seems to be a promising Grand Prix, where the FIM SuperMoto World Championship standings can change notoriously.
