Thomas Chareyre and Delepine win Catalan Grand Prix – Van Den Bosch and Adrien Chareyre secure Title

SALOU (SPAIN), 15 November 2009 – A fantastic Catalan Grand Prix put a stylish end to the 2009 season handing the titles to Van Den Bosch and Adrien Chareyre and the GP wins to Thomas Chareyre and Delepine in front of a healthy crowd.

Thomas Chareyre took victory in both moto’s but lost the Title from VDB eventually. Lazzarini was second both on the podium and in the Championship while Seel completed the S1 rostrum.

Delepine won the S2 Grand Prix from Burkhart and Bartolini while Adrien Chareyre wrapped up the Title already at the end of heat one.

In the European series Hochedez won this last S3 round while Karanyotov grasped the Title. In the Open class it was Porfiri who took the Title with gallantry as he won this Catalan round.

S1-S2 RACE 1

Starting off from first on the grid after his Superpole win, Husqvarna CH Racing’s Thomas Chareyre led the pack into the first corner followed by Gozzini and Lazzarini. The smart Frenchman pulled away at the beginning of the race while the two Italians battled for second and took a well deserved win.

Lazzarini of HM Honda Racing was an eventual second but could not manage to close the gap from Chareyre despite his efforts.

747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing’s Gozzini instead settled for third after losing the runner up spot from Lazzarini. On the other hand his team mate Van Den Bosch, leading the S1 Championship, made up for a warm up lap crash at the sky section with ninth in the combined standings. VDB had started from 16th on the grid after a disastrous qualifying and found himself with a shorter advantage over Chareyre and Lazzarini.

Delepine brought the bike home in fourth ahead of Hermunen, Seel and a strong Bartolini.

The end of the opening heat saw Husqvarna CH Racing’s Adrien Chareyre wrap up his third World Title by taking an eventual seventh in the S2 dedicated standings. The Frenchman was in trouble when he stalled the bike at the sky section but sealed the Title anyhow as he entered the race with a 46 point advantage.

Thomas Chareyre stood on top of the S1 standings followed by Lazzarini and Hermunen. Gozzini won the S2 heat from Delepine and Bartolini.

S1-S2 RACE 2

Again Thomas Chareyre of Husqvarna CH Racing took the holeshot and pulled away with the lead, followed by the sole Lazzarini. The HM Honda Racing man tried to find a way past the French but could not make it and settled for second.

Cross 2R’s Delepine took a good start and remained behind the leading duo. Delepine managed to stop the attack of Gozzini, who broke two rims when Delepine closed him and ended with a flat tyre.

Adrien Chareyre, who had already sealed the Title, took fourth ahead of Burkhart, putting in another strong moto after his Grand Prix debut in Ottobiano.

Seel ended right after, moving past Verderosa and eventually Bartolini, overtaking the latter at the last lap along the start straight.

Courtesy of ninth, Van Den Bosch secured his fourth World Title. The Frenchman then unveiled he had a broken collarbone since the week preceding the Greek Grand Prix and has been riding in pain since then.

As Thomas Chareyre won the S1 Grand Prix ahead of Lazzarini and Seel -the latter on his first season’s podium- Van Den Bosch clinched the Title by just three points.

Delepine won his second Grand Prix of the season ahead of Burkhart and Bartolini, with the Italian taking his first ever podium. Despite missing the top three, Adrien Chareyre came out of the Catalan GP with the S2 World Title – the third of his career.
