Third Chareyre one-one at wet Latina

LATINA (ITALY), 6 September 2009 – Latina’s comeback of the FIM SuperMoto World Championship ended with a wet second moto and with another double win of the Chareyre brothers Thomas (S1) and Adrien (S2).

As the race format joined the S1 and S2 classes but kept the point system separate, the S1 podium was completed by Championship leader VDB and Hermunen.

In the S2 class second placed Gozzini and third placed Delepine joined Adrien Chareyre on the podium as the Frenchman retains the red plate.

Teo Monticelli won his maiden Open class round to build on his Championship lead while Karanyotov took the overall and the red plate of the S3 class at his maiden outing in Latina.

S1-S2 RACE 1

After a storming start Husqvarna CH Racing’s Thomas Chareyre took the holeshot and pulled away from the rest of the pack, taking the eventual victory.

Team mate Hermunen  was following in second when 747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing’s Gozzini attacked the Finn. As the Italian put pressure on Hermunen, he managed to get past and take second.

Hermunen dropped into third but broke the gear lever to lose another place to Van Den Bosch of 747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing. The S1 series leader solved his set up issues in the morning warm up and put in a great recovery to take third right behind Gozzini.

Hermunen salvaged some points by settling into fourth while Adrien Chareyre took fifth. Lazzarini was sixth as he also struggled in this opening moto.

Superpole setter Thomas Chareyre, who came back after a right shoulder injury from Mallory Park’s practice, was the first in the S1 standings to take his first heat win of 2009. The top three was completed by VDB and Hermunen.

In the S2 standings Gozzini took his first season win ahead of Adrien Chareyre and other Italian Mariani.

S1-S2 RACE 2

Rain fell on the Sagittario at Latina as the riders took to a wet track -the sky section was cut off- with Husqvarna CH Racing’s Hermunen first. The wet weather specialist from Finland tried to pull away but it was team mate Thomas Chareyre who snatched the lead and took the eventual win.

Gozzini of 747 Motorsport TM Factory Racing moved past Hermunen to take second but was highsided on the start straight. The Italian recovered but ended outside the top 10.

Hermunen did not enjoy the runner up spot long as he was passed by other TM factory Superider VDB who took second eventually ahead of Hermunen.

Rigo Racing’s Seel enjoyed the wet conditions and took fourth with Adrien Chareyre completing the top five. Delepine took seventh after a crash at the start.
