FUNCHAL (Portugal), 4 December 2013 – On the 1st December Youthstream hosted the annual organizers meeting in Monaco headed by Mr. Giuseppe Luongo, President of Youthstream, and Dr. Wolfgang Srb, FIM / CMS Director. Youthstream presented the novelties for 2014 and the organizers had the opportunity to present their venues.
Mr Giuseppe Luongo started the meeting by welcoming all the organizers, especially the new venues and announced that in 2015 there will be some more new countries entering: “The major goal is to cover the entire world, not only with television, which is already happening, but reaching all the areas of the world with our Championship events”.
The President of Youthstream continued explaining how important the cooperation amongstYouthstream, FIM and Organizers is in order to have a successful event, presenting the 2013 successful TV coverage and audience and social network. Both Mr Luongo and Dr Srb highlighted thesafety as one of the main aspects to work on for 2014: “We will redesign some tracks in order to make them safer for riders, workers and fans, and at the same time keeping the public close to the action maintaining the soul of Motocross. We all need to work together to make it happen and find the balance between innovation and tradition”.
Mr Luongo also placed special attention on the MXGP Academy, which is a very important project for Youthstream at the moment. “The main goal is finding talented young riders from around the world and bring them to Europe where they would be placed in a professional structure and receive dedicated formation. These riders would have the opportunity to grow in the European Championship, racing on the same tracks as the MXGP ri
ders and in front of the same spectators as the World Champions”.
Dr. Wolfgang Srb took the floor sharing Mr Luongo’s thoughts about exporting MXGP to all continents and creating local heroes. Dr Srb highlighted the importance of improving the safety on the race tracks announcing that former FIM Race Director Dave Nicoll will still be involved in MXGP leading the working group that will be in charge of improving the safety on the tracks. Dr Srb also went through the changes on the FIM
Regulations and he introduced the new MXGP Race Director, Mr Ingo Partsch.
In a positive and cooperative atmosphere, all the Youthstream departments exposed their novelties and improvements for 2014 and all the organizers had the opportunity to present their venues. A special attention was given to the new venues, such as the State of Goiàs (Brazil), Mexico, Spain (Talavera) and Ukraine, whose Mayor Mr Trebushkin attended the meeting, as well as to the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations and the Monster Energy FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, which will take place in Kegums, Latvia, and Bastogne, Belgium, respectively. Mr Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya and the QMMF and Losail representatives were also present and they explained how the lighting system will be improved for the first round of the MXGP World Championship next year. The organizers of the Grand Prix of Trentino, Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany and Finland also participated to the organizers meeting.
Everyone is keen for the 2014 season to start.
