MEGALOPOLIS (GREECE), 29 May 2010 – Megalopolis holds fifth event for the FIM MX3 World Championship and fourth for the UEM EMX2 European Championship this weekend. Main names of the Qualifying day are Alex Salvini (Husqvarna Cross 2 R) – winner of the MX3 Qualifying practice and Giacomo Del Segato (Suzuki Max Team) – winner of the EMX2 Qualifying race.

Saturday was very hot, riders were catching best Qualifying time in 37°C. Alex Salvini took fourth pole position this season. Start will be important part of the race, so Salvini made a big job again. As he is only two points behind Carlos Campano (Team Yamaha Andalucia), start could be deciding part for the MX3 leadership. In past events Campano was successful and he is still holder of the red plate, but today he had some problems. Campano said: “It was very difficult. The track is hard and some parts were slippery. I rode faster in last minutes of Qualifying practice, then I made a mistake, so I am content with the third time of qualifications. I think start will be very important tomorrow because there are no many places for overtaking.” Second was Martin Zerava (UFO Racing).

Giacomo Del Segato took maiden win in the EMX2 Qualifying Race. Italian did not have any problem with technical track of Megalopolis and left all other riders behind. Del Segato: “I took the pole position for the first time. Start was successful, I was fast and strong so nobody was faster than me. It is important to start in front and I hope tomorrow I will do the same.” Valentin Guillod (KTM) from Switzerland was second after the fight with Belgian Cedric Lieber (Suzuki), who finished third. EMX2 leader Jernej Irt (Husqvarna Cross 2 R) has started catching riders in front but problems with the bike put him far from the pole position and Irt did not finish the Qualifying race.
