FUNCHAL (PORTUGAL), 17 October 2009 – Offering a multilingual live coverage of the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations via the internet, Freecaster.tv and Youthstream reached an impressive audience of 571,150 spectators with the live as other 209,308 viewers watched the on-demand content for a total of 780,458 spectators via the web.

For the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations Freecaster.tv and Youthstream set up the first ever multilingual live coverage including English, French (via Moto Verte) and German (via MotoX Mag). The program included the live broadcasting of the three races plus an healthy variety of on-demand content related to the event.

Concerning the live broadcast, the majority of the spectators were from the USA, Brazil, Canada, France and Germany. The first three countries exclusively benefitted of the live coverage by Freecaster.tv as no TV station aired the live of the event.

The battle for the Chamberlain Trophy being won by Team USA for their 20th time was offered free of charge and to any internet user with the support of Fox Clothing and Braun shavers.

Youthstream President Giuseppe Luongo stated: “Live Streaming is considered by many as the future of television, but it has already become the present.

“The global results we obtained this year are much higher than what we had expected, at the moment it is the perfect tool to be integrated with the live television because we see three major countries such as United States, Brazil and Canada gathering a significant number of spectators, and those are the countries where the event was not broadcasted live on TV. I am delighted to see how many American fans followed our race, this is absolutely fantastic, it is great preparation for the Red Bull FIM MXoN next year in the United States.

“I want to thank the Youthstream Television Department and Freecaster.tv for their great work in permitting fans from all over the world to be able to follow Motocross live from their homes. Our intention is to continue developing Live Streaming with even more information than what we give live to television, in the future we want cameras on the top teams, special programs on the backstage, everything to allow fans to really live inside the Motocross world.”

FIM/CMS President Dr. Wolfgang Srb continued: “The global interest for Motocross is fantastic. Fans all around the world have seen the biggest Motocross event in the history of this great sport on Freecaster.tv. More than 500.000 have watched the Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations live – this is stunning, far beyond expectations. What a great and successful way to finish the 2009 season!”

CEO of Freecaster Raymond Dulieu concluded: “Video on the computer currently does not have the mass reach television offers, but it is the best medium to reach out to those who live and breathe a sport. Whereas television needs to cater to the needs of many at once, Internet offers individual freedom of choice in terms of content and time when it is consumed, it offers a larger variety of content and it offers interaction. Producing a LIVE coverage in three languages for four and a half hours was a challenge we could not have undertaken without the support from Fox. I am glad we succeeded beyond expectations and that we explored new ways to reach out to Motocross fans. Since 2004, Freecaster.tv has been the leading video site for action sports and we look forward to maintaining this position by adding a new dimension to MX coverage in 2010.”
