Desalle and Musquin continue qualifying winning streak at Casino Bonver GP of Czech Republic |
LOKET (CZECH REPUBLIC), 8 August 2009 – Desalle and Musquin will start the Casino Bonver GP of the Czech Republic from pole after winning today’s qualifying heats. Desalle battled it out with Nagl –eventually second- to take his second consecutive pole and third of the season. Series leader Cairoli, suffering from a severe cold, struggled and ended ninth. In the MX2 class Championship leader Musquin won his sixth qualifying heat of the season with Roczen taking a solid second. A dramatic qualifying heat was eventually won by Belgian young gun Desalle of the LS Motors Honda team. Leaving a bitter home GP behind his shoulders, Desalle, who broke his exhaust pipe in Lommel and was then given a penalty for breaking the noise limit, recovered from the bottom of the top five until he moved past Nagl to take pole number three of his career. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Nagl brought the bike home in second but the German was the first to grab the lead from holeshotter Bill. The Aprilia Racing rider was strong at the start, taking the holeshot and leading for the first two laps, then he dropped down to fourth – his best qualifying result of the season though. Tanel Leok ended a strong race in third as the Yamaha Red Bull De Carli Estonian was fast in the free practice and pre qualifying sessions. Aranda was fifth after a positive qualifying. The Frenchman of the CLS team made his MX1 debut on this track last year and since then he has not left the category. Swanepoel was sixth ahead of Philippaerts who struggled a bit with his Yamaha’s set up. Yamaha fellow rider Cairoli, who suffers from a severe cold, recovered to ninth after a first corner mistake as he was sandwiched in between De Dycker and Priem in today’s classification. Kadlecek was the best placed home rider in 16th right behind Factory TM rider Thain.

MX2 Marvin Musquin added one more qualifying heat win to his healthy 2009 account, which includes now six pole positions. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Frenchman led the pack into the first corner and controlled a quick Roczen who settled for second. Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2’s Roczen had a good start as well and kept following Musquin throughout the whole race without having the chance to come closer and attach the flawless Frenchman. Aubin enjoyed being back to the venue where he won his maiden GP in 2007 as the Yamaha Monster Energy Ricci Motocross rider took a solid third in today’s qualifying after getting rid of team mate Larrieu in the opening lap-the latter was an eventual sixth in a Frenchmen packed top ten. CLS’ Frossard was fourth after a solid moto with Goncalves completing the top five. Coming back after an appendix operation Boog took eighth with Sword and Monni completing the top ten. Smitka was the first home rider in twelfth just behind Osborne while factory TM rider Michek was 17th. A crash hampered Paulin’s race as the Kawasaki rider ended in 16th with Guarneri, Boissiere and Roelants also crashing throughout the race. Verbruggen, who just took his maiden podium in Lommel, was 13th. MX2 Qualifying Race top ten: 1. Marvin Musquin (FRA, KTM), 24:08.081; ; 2. Ken Roczen (GER, Suzuki), +0:00.602; 3.
