In Motocross

Cairoli took the lead right after the gate dropped and pulled away with Ken de Dycker holding on in second and Tanel Leok moving up to third.

Roczen instead worked his way up after the start while both early leaders Marvin Musquin and Jeffrey Herlings crashed. Simpson took second and Frossard third.

Mats Nilsson won the first heat of the FIM Veterans’ World Cup from home rider Erwin Hendrickx.

MX1

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli dominated today’s qualifying heat as he cruised comfortably in first place for the whole race after having taken a good start – the Italian lined up for first because he also topped the prequalifying.

LS Motors’ Guarneri took second after the start but was passed by De Dycker already at lap two. The Belgian of Yamaha Monster Energy Ricci, who won at Valkenswaard in 2008, kept a good pace for the whole race but did not manage to cut the gap from Cairoli and ended in second place.

Other LS Motors man Leok moved up to third as his team mate Guarneri dropped down to eighth.

Rockstar Teka Suzuki World MX1’s Desalle battled it out for third with the Estonian but settled down for fourth ahead of team mate Ramon, who was a positive second in the prequalifying.

Russian Bobryshev ended sixth ahead of second placed in the Championship Nagl.

Philippaerts dropped down to a bitter 12th  after he had moved up to fifth. The Italian was affected by a technical problem towards the final part of the race.

350 SX-F mounted Gonçalves was 16th at his first qualifying heat of the season while home rider De Reuver was in 22nd.

Bad luck struck the Kawasaki Racing team: Barragan picked up an injury in the days leading up to the Grand Prix, Boog crashed at the opening lap of the qualifying heat while Pourcel retired after damaging the bike in a tangle with another rider.

MX2

At the end of an eventful qualifying moto Roczen of Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2 came out on top of the pack to collect his second Lovemytime MX2 Pole Position Award of the season.

The heat started with a Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX2 battle for first in between holeshotter Musquin and home rider Herlings. The latter took the lead at the end of the opening lap and led the pack until he crashed at lap five. The initial disappointment was followed by an impressive recovery from 33rd to 14th.

Musquin was handed back the lead by Herlings but was passed by Roczen with one lap to go. A last lap attack to the German ended with the crash of Musquin, who did not finish the race.

Other Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX2 rider Simpson collected a strong result by finishing second to Roczen.

Kawasaki CLS’ Frossard was third ahead of Verbruggen and Osborne who completed the top five.

At his first race of the 2010 GP season French Larrieu, coming back after a shoulder injury, qualified in 16th place.
