The Rally of the Corallo, point of inflexion in ASM’s Motorsport results
Alguero (Sardinia) On June 7, 2010 – The fourth round of the European Historic Rally Championship disputed in the Italian island of Sardinia, one has been paid by the abandon of Ferran Font and Antonio Sainz, in a rally where the hardness of the specials, and the asphyxiating heat has provoked the abandon of more than fifty per cent of the participants. The Andorran driver Ferran Font keeps his options intact to the European Title in the Category 2.
The Sardinian round was coinciding with the Rally of Italia·Sardinia counts towards for the championship of the IRC, it being disputed the same sections. The traditional structure of the Rally of the Corallo was changing totally, with special near to the localities of Sassari and Olbia, at more than two hours of the Alguero, base of the rally. To compete after the competitors in the IRC also has provoked that the classic ones were a few very destroyed sections, being difficult to support a fluid conduction, simultaneously that to offer a good spectacle to the public.
Miquel Amblàs, one of the persons in charge of ASM Motorsport was commenting the action of the team… “It has been a very hard rally. Test of it is that more than the half of the teams has had to be retired by them. The heat has been the principal enemy against we all have had to fight. The thermometer has reached for several hours of the day 35 degrees. This, joined the dust in suspension left by the same vehicles, which were obstructing the filters and a few excessively long sections for the classic ones, they have been the cause of the majority of abandons, including that of our two pilots “.
