CERUTTI ET PAULIN RESISTENT SUR CETTE ETAPE VERS AMODJAR [FRA/ENG/ITA]

Incontestablement, tous s’accordaient à dire à l’arrivée que cette spéciale de 390 km entre Chami et Amodjar, comportait la totalité des terrains et difficultés que l’on peut trouver en Afrique, le tout au cœur des splendides paysages du désert Mauritanien et sous une chaleur écrasante pour la saison. Malgré tout, que ce soit en auto ou en moto, les leaders ont bien résisté et il y a donc assez peu de changements.

Une fois encore, dans la catégorie moto, les trois premiers pilotes du classement général ont franchi la ligne d’arrivée ensemble. Parti premier ce matin de Chami, Alessandro BOTTURI a chuté une première fois dans le petit cordon de dunes situé après 10 km. Le temps de remettre sa YAMAHA Ténéré 700 sur ses roues, l’Italien a vu revenir sur lui l’APRILIA 660 TUAREG de son compatriote Jacopo CERUTTI qui s’était élancé 2 minutes derrière. Les deux hommes ont ensuite fait route ensemble. Ils ont même chuté exactement en même temps, pour le plus grand plaisir des photographes présents qui ont immortalisé ces deux saltos avant parfaitement coordonnés.

Tout cela explique le retour avec les deux leaders de Pol TARRES au kilomètre 50, en étant pourtant parti 8 minutes derrière.

Les deux YAMAHA et l’APRILIA ont ensuite réalisé l’ensemble du parcours sans trop se lâcher. Au final, TARRES remporte sa deuxième spéciale avec 00:05:48 d’avance sur CERUTTI et 00:07:51 sur BOTTURI.

Très belle opération également pour le second officiel APRILIA Francesco MONTANARI, 4ème à 43 secondes et à présent parfaitement dans le rythme de la tête. Une fois encore, l’Italien Giovanni GRITTI rafle le scratch de la catégorie 450 sur sa HONDA devant la BETA de son compatriote Francesco MURATORI et la KTM du surprenant pilote Suisse Alexandre VAUDAN. En 5ème position au général, ce dernier est d’ailleurs toujours leader du challenge ROOKIE RIDER BY ACERBIS devant Francesco MURATORI et Marco-Aurelio FONTANA sur HUSQVARNA. Chez les MOTUL XTREM RIDER, comprenez les pilotes malles-moto, le Français Patrice CARILLON s’impose pour la première fois en scorant une belle 16ème place. Il est à présent leader de la catégorie devant ses compatriotes Antoine DETOURBET et Nicolas BOTTU.

Au général provisoire, à trois étape de la fin, Japoto CERUTTI mène toujours la danse avec 00:03:03 d’avance sur Alessandro BOTTURI et tout de même 00:22:22 sur l’Andorran Pol TARRES.

Vainqueur de sa 4ème spéciale hier dans la catégorie Auto/Camion, Pierre-Louis LOUBET comptait bien continuer sur sa lancée et effectuer une remontée au général. Hélas, c’était sans compter sur un problème mécanique qui a stoppé l’APACHE N°261 au CP2. Du coup, les autres SSV en ont profité, à commencer Ricardo SOUSA et Jorge BRANDAO superbe vainqueur au scratch de l’étape avec leur CAN AM. Les Portugais devancent de 00:07:36 leurs amis de l’équipe OLD FRIENDS RALLY TEAM Carlos VENTO et Carlos RUIZ MORENO. Gautier PAULIN et Remi BOULANGER complètent le podium du jour avec l’APACHE à 00:19:20, moins de 2 minutes devant Heatcliff ZINGRAF et Gregory REVEST, à nouveau dans le coup après une belle cabriole de leur CAN AM en arrivant en Mauritanie.

La première auto est le TOYOTA de Pascal FERYN et Kurt KEYSERS. Les Belges sont arrivés avec une vingtaine de minutes d’avance sur le TOYOTA des Hongrois Imre VARGA et Jozsef TOMA. Dans la catégorie camion, cette fois les Hollandais Aad VAN VELSEN, Michel VAN VELSEN et Marco SIEMONS ont devancé d’un peu plus de 3 minutes le TATRA du Tchèque Tomas TOMECEK qui conserve l’avantage sur la course.

Au général provisoire, l’équipage PAULIN/BOULANGER continuent d’accroitre son avance puisqu’il dispose à présent de 03:41:52 sur FERYN/KEYSERS et 04:37:18 sur VENTO/RUIZ MORENO.
De quoi voir venir sereinement la suite de cette AFRICA ECO RACE 2024 !

Dans la course Classic, c’était une petite journée aujourd’hui avec une seule Zone de Régularité de 59 km au programme. La victoire revient à l’équipage composé de l’Autrichien Peter BRABECK-LEMATHE et du Français Jean Michel GAYTE sur leur MITSUBISH PAJERO 1998. Au général, après 19 ZR, les Belges Tom et Eric CLAEYS sont toujours leader avec leur TOYOTA BJ 73 de 1986.

Demain, jeudi 11 janvier se déroulera la seconde boucle de la 15ème édition de l’AFRICA ECO RACE. A n’en pas douter, ce sera le gros morceau de l’épreuve avec 363 km de spéciale comportant du sable, des pierres, des dunes et de la navigation, le tout par 35 degrés. Bref, du boulot en perspective pour les concurrents alors que les assistances seront en stand-by le temps de cette 9ème étape.

CERUTTI AND PAULIN RESIST ON THE STAGE TO AMODJAR

By the end of the 390km special stage between Chami and Amodjar, there was no doubt that all the terrain and difficulties that can be found in Africa were on display, in the heart of the splendid Mauritanian desert landscape and in unseasonably high temperatures. Despite all this, the leaders held up well in both the car and motorbike categories, so there were few changes.

Once again, in the motorbike category, the top three riders in the overall classification crossed the finish line together. Alessandro BOTTURI was the first to set off from Chami this morning, but crashed for the first time in the small strip of dunes after 10km. By the time he had put his Yamaha Tenerée700 back on its wheels, the Italian saw the APRILIA 660 TUAREG of his compatriot Jacopo CERUTTI, who had started 2 minutes behind, catch up with him. The two men then rode together. They even crashed at exactly the same time, for the delight of the photographers positioned in that place, who immortalized the two perfectly coordinated front somersaults.

Winner of his 4th special stage yesterday in the Car/Truck category, Pierre-Louis LOUBET had every intention of continuing his success and climbing up the overall standings. But a mechanical problem brought the N°261 APACHE to a halt at CP2. As a result, the other SSVs took advantage of the situation, starting with Ricardo SOUSA and Jorge BRANDAO, superb scratch winners on the stage with their CAN AM. The Portuguese duo beat their friends from the OLD FRIENDS RALLY TEAM, Carlos VENTO and Carlos RUIZ MORENO, by 00:07:36. Gautier PAULIN and Remi BOULANGER rounded off the day’s podium with the APACHE at 00:19:20, less than 2 minutes ahead of Heatcliff ZINGRAF and Gregory REVEST, back in the running after a great CAN AM caper on arrival in Mauritania.

In the truck category, this time the Dutchmen Aad VAN VELSEN, Michel VAN VELSEN and Marco SIEMONS were just over 3 minutes ahead of the TATRA of the Czech Tomas TOMECEK, who is still leading the race.

Overall, after 19 ZRs, Belgians Tom and Eric CLAEYS are still in the lead with their 1986 TOYOTA BJ 73.

Tomorrow, Thursday 11 January, the second loop of the 15th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE will take place. There’s no doubt that this will be the toughest part of the event, with 363km of special stages featuring sand, stones, dunes and navigation, all at 35 degrees Celsius. Tomorrow the competitors will have so much work to do, while the assistance services will be on stand-by for the duration of this 9th stage.

CERUTTI E PAULIN RESISTONO IN QUESTA TAPPA VERSO AMODJAR

Indubbiamente, tutti concordavano all’arrivo che questa speciale di 390 km tra Chami e Amodjar comprendeva l’intera gamma di terreni e difficoltà che si possono trovare in Africa, il tutto nel cuore dei magnifici paesaggi del deserto della Mauritania e sotto un caldo opprimente per la stagione. Nonostante ciò, sia in auto che in moto, i leader hanno resistito bene e quindi ci sono pochi cambiamenti.

Ancora una volta, nella categoria moto, i primi tre piloti della classifica generale hanno attraversato insieme il traguardo. Partito per primo stamattina da Chami, Alessandro BOTTURI è caduto una prima volta nel piccolo cordone di dune situato dopo 10 km. Mentre rimetteva in piedi la sua YAMAHA Ténéré 700, l’italiano ha visto avvicinarsi la APRILIA 660 TUAREG del suo connazionale Jacopo CERUTTI, partito 2 minuti dopo di lui. I due uomini hanno poi proseguito insieme. Sono addirittura caduti esattamente allo stesso momento, per la gioia dei fotografi presenti che hanno immortalato questi due salti mortali perfettamente coordinati.

Tutto ciò spiega il ritorno con i due leader di Pol TARRES al chilometro 50, pur essendo partito 8 minuti dopo. Le due YAMAHA e la APRILIA hanno poi completato l’intero percorso senza mollarsi troppo. Alla fine, TARRES vince la sua seconda speciale con un vantaggio di 00:05:48 su CERUTTI e 00:07:51 su BOTTURI.

Molto buona anche la prestazione del secondo ufficiale APRILIA Francesco MONTANARI, 4º a 43 secondi e ora perfettamente nel ritmo dei primi. Ancora una volta, l’italiano Giovanni GRITTI conquista il miglior tempo nella categoria 450 sulla sua HONDA davanti alla BETA del connazionale Francesco MURATORI e alla KTM del sorprendente pilota svizzero Alexandre VAUDAN. In 5ª posizione nella classifica generale, quest’ultimo è ancora leader della sfida ROOKIE RIDER BY ACERBIS davanti a Francesco MURATORI e Marco-Aurelio FONTANA su HUSQVARNA. Tra i MOTUL XTREM RIDER, ovvero i piloti con le moto in scatola, il francese Patrice CARILLON si impone per la prima volta piazzandosi al 16º posto. È ora il leader della categoria davanti ai connazionali Antoine DETOURBET e Nicolas BOTTU.

In classifica generale provvisoria, a tre tappe dalla fine, Japoto CERUTTI guida ancora con un vantaggio di 00:03:03 su Alessandro BOTTURI e addirittura di 00:22:22 sullo spagnolo-andorrano Pol TARRES.

Vincitore della sua quarta speciale ieri nella categoria Auto/Camion, Pierre-Louis LOUBET contava di continuare su questa strada e compiere una rimonta nella classifica generale. Purtroppo, non aveva fatto i conti con un problema meccanico che ha fermato l’APACHE N°261 al CP2. Così, gli altri SSV ne hanno approfittato, a cominciare da Ricardo SOUSA e Jorge BRANDAO, splendidi vincitori assoluti della tappa con il loro CAN AM. I portoghesi precedono di 00:07:36 i loro amici dell’OLD FRIENDS RALLY TEAM Carlos VENTO e Carlos RUIZ MORENO. Gautier PAULIN e Remi BOULANGER completano il podio del giorno con l’APACHE a 00:19:20, meno di 2 minuti davanti a Heatcliff ZINGRAF e Gregory REVEST, di nuovo in gara dopo una bella capriola del loro CAN AM arrivando in Mauritania.

Nella gara Classic, è stata una giornata leggera oggi con una sola Zona di Regolarità di 59 km in programma. La vittoria va all’equipaggio composto dall’austriaco Peter BRABECK-LEMATHE e dal francese Jean Michel GAYTE sulla loro MITSUBISHI PAJERO 1998. In classifica generale, dopo 19 ZR, i belgi Tom ed Eric CLAEYS sono ancora in testa con la loro TOYOTA BJ 73 del 1986.

Domani, giovedì 11 gennaio, si svolgerà la seconda boucle della 15ª edizione dell’AFRICA ECO RACE. Senza dubbio, sarà il tassello più impegnativo della competizione con 363 km di speciale che comprende sabbia, rocce, dune e navigazione, il tutto a 35 gradi. Insomma, un duro lavoro in prospettiva per i concorrenti mentre gli assistenti saranno in attesa durante questa 9ª tappa.
