PRAGA IN THE TOP 10 AT THE WINTER CUP
THE CLASSIC INTERNATIONAL SEASON OPENER TOOK PLACE AT THE SOUTH GARDA KARTING CIRCUIT IN LONATO (BRESCIA), ITALY. PRAGA KART RACING IS AGAIN PROTAGONIST IN KZ2
The 18th Winter Cup, the classic race that marks the beginning of the international season, took place, as always, at the South Garda Karting Circuit in Lonato (Brescia, Italy). Praga Kart Racing stepped on track with 3 drivers in KZ2 and a driver in each of the KF and KF Junior classes. In the shifter category Patrik Hajek and Bas Lammers are constantly among the best. Hajek in the pre-final is 14th at the start and rises incredibly fast all the way to 8th place, then in the Final he defends well and closes 10th. His team mate Lammers starts off great, 10th overall after the heats; unfortunately, in the pre-final a contact while he is up front forces him to start all over and he closes 22nd, but in the Final he recovers nicely and is 15th. Doubek, also in KZ2, is slowed down by the mid-field traffic and has to run the recovery race to access the finals: here he does well (14th), but it is not enough to qualify. He will have his chance to shine.
Praga was on track also in KF with Karol Dabski: 14th in his timed practice, the Polish driver defends well in the first heat (13th), but in the other races the many contacts on track push him to the rear and he doesn’t manage to qualify. Too bad, but both driver and vehicle proved to have what it takes. In KFJ the Praga flag was held high by the new entry Marino Sato: the Japanese gets off to a great start, 7th in his group, and in the heats he battles with the best. Unfortunately, 1° in the repechage, he is literally pushed out by a rival and is forced to retire.
