At Imola, Tim Tramnitz achieved a remarkable feat by securing his maiden pole position in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The R-ace GP driver dominated the second session and posted a time of 1:39.057s, which earned him the pole position of Group A. Rafael Camara (Prema Racing) and Martinius Stenshorne (R-ace GP), both on the podium of yesterday’s first race won by Norwegian rookie, came in second and third, respectively.
Kas Haverkort (Van Amersfoort Racing) set the pace for Group B and recorded a time of 1:39.130s. This performance placed him alongside Tramnitz on the front row for the race. Behind the Dutch driver, his teammate Joshua Dufek and the Trident Motorsport standard bearer Nikhil Bhora finished their session, battling for the pole position until the checkered flag.
In the upcoming race, Lorenzo Fluxa (Prema Racing) and Owen Tangavelou (Trident Motorsport) will start from the fourth row. Victor Bernier (MP Motorsport) secured the fifth position in the second session, just like Michael Belov (G4 Racing) in group B, this will allow him to start from the tenth spot on the grid.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Prema Racing), who yesterday climbed to the second step of the podium, will start from the back of the grid in Race 2 due to technical issues with his car that prevented him from setting a fast lap in today’s qualifying session.
Race 2 will be live at 2.55pm CEST (for the usual 30 minutes + 1 lap). The last race of the first Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine weekend will be aired live on the official Youtube and Facebook pages @formularegionaleubyalpine.
The Grandstands Start 1 (Ex A) and Start 3 (Ex I) will be open to the public on April 21,22 and 23. The access is free of charge.
